It’s not surprising that a next-gen product will come with improvements over the existing one. The same goes for the Pixel 10. We’ve already covered the leaks and rumors on things like a better SoC, thanks to the TSMC-made Tensor G5. Then there are rumors suggesting that we’ll get better cameras, which will apparently have superior stabilization. However, a recent leak has got me excited the most.

If you’re wondering what could be better than boosted performance and cameras, well, it’s the speakers — at least for me. The folks over at Android Headlines recently reported that the Pixel 10 series will get “significantly improved speakers,” possibly making them the best speakers ever on a Pixel phone.

As someone who’s been using the Pixel 8 (and the 7a for work), the one thing that frustrates me the most is the speakers. Both phones have mediocre speakers, at best, but given the fact that the Pixel 8 is supposed to be a flagship, I’m even more annoyed at the fact that the speakers sound the way they do. This isn’t the first time around we at PiunikaWeb have expressed annoyance with the speakers on the Pixel 8. My colleague Karajot wrote a piece on their wishlist for the Pixel 9 last year, in which they mentioned they wanted better speakers too.

For months, I used the Pixel 8 alongside an iPhone 13, and whenever I wanted to watch a video or listen to music, I switched to the iPhone 13 almost always. Then, when I traded in the iPhone 13 for an iPhone 16, it’s been the same (duh!). The Pixel 8 frankly can’t compare. Its speakers lack clarity and punch when compared to the competition. For instance, the iPhone 16 sounds much more fuller than the Pixel 8 in all sorts of genres.

That said, the report does mention that despite the upgraded speaker hardware, the Pixel 10 won’t support Dolby Atmos. We also do not have any specific details about the speaker hardware, so we might just have to wait for the launch to know whether or not the speakers are actually better.

Nevertheless, all these rumored improvements suggest that the Pixel 10 series might just be worth all the hype — and possibly even worth the upgrade. If you’re a Pixel user or are looking to jump ship, what would you want to see in the Pixel 10 series to make you take the shot? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
